VIDEO: The South Texas city of McAllen is offering to train Mexican firefighters in what the mayor calls the first such binational collaboration among fire departments. “This is the first in the country where you have a Mexican fire department coming and training in the United States. A raging fire at a northwestern Minnesota grain elevator kept crews from at least 17 different departments busy overnight, closing area schools Monday and triggering a request for residents to refrain from using water. Reports of the fire near the city of Hawley began coming in around 11:30 Sunday night and by the time engine crews arrived the structure was engulfed, with flames leaping high into the night sky.

PHOTOS: One person was injured after a crash behind a Fire and EMS station in Independence on Sunday morning. The Independence Fire/EMS Department says crews responded to a motor vehicle accident behind the Fire-EMS station at 11:17 a.m. Sunday. On-duty staff reported via radio a loud explosion sound at the station and found a full-sized pickup had struck the back of the station.

The former Rock Island Livestock Auction Barn had multiple buildings burn to the ground on Saturday, Feb. 24, but crews were able to save 22 cows and millions of dollars worth of surrounding homes and businesses. Rock Island Fire Department crews were called out at 5:37 p.m. to 534 34th Ave. According to Rock Island Fire Marshal Greg Marty, crews arrived within three to four minutes of the call and found a large fire already burning on the backside of a barn along the railroad tracks.

Volkswagen is recalling more than 261,000 cars in the U.S. to fix a potential fuel leak that can increase the risk of fires. The recall covers certain Audi A3s and VW Golfs and GTIs from the 2015 through 2020 model years. Also included are 2015 through 2019 Golf Sportwagens, and 2019 and 2020 VW Jettas.

Cleveland firefighters worked to put out a fire that spread across several tractor-trailers in Cuyahoga Heights early Friday morning. Fire officials confirmed a number of tractor-trailers went up in flames around 2:45 a.m., but no injuries have been reported. A driver at the terminal told 19 News five trucks had gone up in flames.

AT&T’s network went down for many of its customers across the United States Thursday morning, leaving customers unable to place calls, text or access the internet. By late morning, the company said most of its network had been restored. The Federal Communications Commission confirmed Thursday afternoon that it is investigating the outage.

A firefighter was taken to the hospital after suffering a medical issue while fighting a house fire Wednesday. First responders performed CPR on him before he was rushed to the hospital. Neighbors say they saw flames coming from the second floor of an old farmhouse on Scotland Road in Kingston, but the entire home turned into a fireball within minutes.

Approximately 15.5 million Toshiba laptop AC adapters have been recalled by Dynabook Americas due to fire and burn hazards, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. According to the commission, the recalled adapters can overheat and spark, posing burn and fire hazards to consumers. The recalled AC adapters were sold both on their own and with Toshiba brand personal laptop computers.

VIDEO: Firefighters who work for Decatur Fire and Rescue have operated on different schedule since early 2024. The previous schedule had firefighters working 24 hour shifts, before having 48 hours off. The new schedule has firefighters work 48 hours straight, before having 96 hours off. Decatur Fire Deputy Chief Nathan Springer said the move was requested by firefighters in 2023, and has already improved fire operation since.

PHOTOS: "A little bit of smoke to start with and I said that looks funny and then it burst into flames," said Harrison Leuckel.
